Kamal P. Malla

Kamal Prakash Malla (1936 – 17 November 2018[1]) was a professor emeritus of Newar studies at Tribhuvan University, where he was previously university rector.[2]

He studied at the University of Edinburgh, where he obtained a Ph.D. in 1974, presenting the thesis "A study of contemporary models of stylistic analysis, literary and linguistic, and their pedagogic relevance".[3]

His research has touched upon many aspects of Newar history and language, including writing a grammar of the Kathmandu dialect,[4] and serving as editor-in-chief of a comprehensive dictionary of Classical Newar.[5]
