Kataysky District (Russian: Катайский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[4] district (raion), one of the twenty-four in Kurgan Oblast, Russia. It is located in the northwest of the oblast. The area of the district is 2,670 square kilometers (1,030 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the town of Kataysk.[1] Population: 23,991 (2010 Census);[3] 28,099 (2002 Census);[6] 31,720 (1989 Soviet census).[7] The population of Kataysk accounts for 58.4% of the district's total population.[3]
