Kayhan London is a Persian-language Iranian online media outlet based in London. Kayhan London and its English-language sister publication Kayhan Life focus on Iran and its presence on the international scene. Their news reports, articles, interviews and opinion pieces cover Iran's politics, economy, society, environment and culture, nationally and internationally, and spotlight prominent figures of the large Iranian diaspora across the world.
Kayhan newspaper was founded in 1942 in Tehran by Mostafa Mesbahzadeh.[4][5] By 1970's Kayhan had become the largest press group in the Middle East, with numerous publications and magazines. Mesbahzadeh revived the original newspaper four years after the 1979 Islamic revolution in London, under the label Kayhan (of) London. The paper turned digital in 2013. Kayhan Life was launched in 2019.
Kayhan London and Kayhan Life are privately owned, secular, with no political affiliation.
Kayhan London's liberal news reporting is considered anti-government by the Islamic Republic of Iran.[6][7]
Elahe Boghrat, chief editor of Iranian diaspora news site Kayhan London, told VOA Persian that many Iranians voted with their feet by staying away from the ballot boxes.
Chief editor of the London-based opposition Kayhan newspaper, Elahe Boghrat, tweeted Monday that Kelid had illegally lifted from the Internet the graphic, drawn by Ali Eshtyagh for Kayhan in March 2021, removing the artist's signature.
Nazenin Ansari is an Iranian journalist in exile, working as Managing Editor of Kayhan London, a weekly Persian-language(Arabic dialect) newspaper.
The paper, written in Persian and critical of the current Iranian Islamic government, will continue publication, its editors said in a letter.
The re-published cartoon, which naturally did not give credit to Kayhan London as it is anti-regime and banned in Iran, does not include the reaching figures (the public) or the original caption, though other details are identical.
