Kleene algebra

In mathematics, a Kleene algebra (/ˈklni/ KLAY-nee; named after Stephen Cole Kleene) is an idempotent (and thus partially ordered) semiring endowed with a closure operator.[1] It generalizes the operations known from regular expressions.
