Kurkinsky District (Russian: Ку́ркинский райо́н) is an administrative district (raion), one of the twenty-three in Tula Oblast, Russia.[1] As a municipal division, it is incorporated as Kurkinsky Municipal District.[4] It is located in the southeast of the oblast. The area of the district is 949.25 square kilometers (366.51 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Kurkino.[1] Population: 10,830 (2010 Census);[3] 13,077 (2002 Census);[7] 15,457 (1989 Soviet census).[8] The population of Kurkino accounts for 50.0% of the district's total population.[3]
