Matthew David Messias[1] (born 7 May 1964[2]) is an English former football referee, who operated in the Football League, the Premier League, and also for UEFA and FIFA. He was first based in York during his time as an official,[3] subsequently moving to Barnsley, also in the county of Yorkshire. His other occupation was as a physical education teacher.
