Michel Lentz

Michel Lentz was born on the 21st of May 1820 in Luxembourg City and died on the 7th of September 1893. He was a Luxembourgish poet. He is best known for having written Ons Heemecht, the national anthem of Luxembourg. By profession, he was a civil servant. He attended secondary school at the Athénée de Luxembourg and studied at the Université Libre in Brussels. Luxembourg's national motto "Mir wëlle bleiwe wat mir sinn" comes from Lentz's poem De Feierwon
