Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) is a public engineering university in Bangladesh, located at Mirpur Cantonment, Dhaka. MIST is a government engineering and technological research institution under the Ministry of Defence. Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh established MIST in 1998 for providing B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Phil. and PhD degrees in engineering. MIST is a PhD granting Public Research University in Bangladesh specialized in Engineering.^[2]

MIST is the only Government Engineering University of the Ministry of Defence of Bangladesh. MIST conducts twelve engineering and architecture departments under four faculties. All departments have achieved accreditation from the Board of Accreditation for Engineering & Technical Education (BAETE), Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB).

A large number of MIST alumni are active in notable engineering, research and non-engineering roles in Bangladesh and abroad.

A student has to go through a rigorous written admission test examination to get a chance of admission into MIST. A shortlisted number of candidates are selected each year based on the results of Secondary (SSC) and Higher Secondary (HSC) board examinations for participating in the admission test. The eligible candidates for written admission test are selected on the basis of top GPA and marks obtained.
