Mumiy Troll (Russian: Му́мий Тро́лль [ˈmumʲɪj ˈtrolʲ]) is a Russian rock group, founded in 1983 in Vladivostok by vocalist and songwriter Ilya Lagutenko (Russian: Илья Лагутенко). The name is a pun on Mumintroll, the children's books by Tove Jansson, translated into Russian as "Mummi Troll".[1][2]
