The Municipality of Ribnica (pronounced [ˈɾiːbnitsa] ; Slovene: Občina Ribnica) is a municipality in southern Slovenia. The seat of the municipality is the town of Ribnica. It is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region.
Archaeological evidence shows that the area has been settled at least since the late Bronze Age between 1300 and 900 BC.[2]
