Nanmoku (南牧村, Nanmoku-mura) is a village located in Gunma Prefecture, Japan. As of 31 July 2020[update], the village had an estimated population of 1,746 in 971 households,[1] and a population density of 15 persons per km². The total area of the village is 118.83 square kilometres (45.88 sq mi).
Nanmoku, like many rural areas in Japan, has witnessed significant population decline since the mid-20th century. As of 2023, 67.5% of the population was over age 65 and the median age was 68.4, making Nanmoku the grayest village in Japan.[2]
