The Navi Mumbai Metro is a rapid transit system in the city of Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The planning and construction of the Navi Mumbai Metro was overseen by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO).[3] The system is planned to consist of five rail lines covering a total distance of 106.4 kilometres (66.1 mi), out of which one is operational and the other four are being planned.[4] The foundation stone for the project was laid on 1 May 2011, with a target completion date of 2014.[5] After over 9 years of delays, due to slowdowns in construction caused by lack of labour and adequate funding, along with land acquisition issues,[5] the Line-1 of the metro commenced operations on 17 November 2023.[6][1]
