The North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) is a US-based nonprofit organization.[2]
The organization was founded in 1971 in the U.S. as the National Association for Environmental Education[3] but now includes members from over 30 countries.[3][4]
NAAEE and its 56 affiliate organizations[5] in the US, Canada, Mexico have over 20,000 members;[4] additional affiliates exist outside North America in Asia and Oceania.[6] These partners, many of whom operate at a state or provincial level, have their own conferences, publications, or other activities.[7][8][9][10]
NAAEE holds its own annual conference,[11] supports teacher training in environmental education,[12] supports research demonstrating the impact of environmental education,[13] and produces a wide variety of publications, including Guidelines for Excellence[14][15] in environmental education.[16]
The Natural Start Alliance,[17] a project of NAAEE, works to connect young children with nature.[18]
