Only a Fool, or Chico the Jester is a 1880 Australian play by F. R. C. Hopkins. It was produced by Alfred Dampier as a vehicle for Dampier and his daughters.[1][2][3]
It was based on a story by Alexandre Dumas, Chico the Jester.[4][5] However the book was extensively adapted in order to provide showy parts for Dampier and his daughters Lily and Rose, who had just made their debuts in All for Gold, also by Hopkins.[6]
