Previously known as Pakenham East, Honora Fields is the newest suburb of the Greater Melbourne metropolitan area situated south-east of Melbourne City. Honora Fields is located in the Shire of Cardinia local government area.[1]
After community consultation, the Pakenham East PSP was renamed Honora Fields, by the Cardinia Shire and Geographic Names Victoria. The name pays homage to Honora Carney, a Cardinia Shire local whose family has significant ties to land between Pakenham and Nar Nar Goon, dating back to 1869. Cardinia Shire Council adopted the name Honora at the 15 July Council meeting following a 5-week consultation period during which the name received the highest number of votes from the community.
Honora Fields encompasses sections of land between Pakenham, Nar Nar Goon and Nar Nar Goon North and is expected to accommodate 7,000 new homes. [2]
