The Pancharama Kshetras (Telugu: పంచారామలు, romanized: Pañcārāmalu) or the Pancharamas, are a group of five ancient Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Siva, located in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. These temples are situated at Draksharamam, Samalkota, Amaravathi, Palakollu, and Bhimavaram. According to regional legend, the lingams in these temples, referred to as aramas, are believed to have been created from a single, unified Siva lingam.[1]
While there is no definitive evidence regarding the simultaneous construction of the Pancharama temples, it is generally believed that each temple was established between the 10th and 11th centuries.[2] Historical records, including inscriptions and literary references, indicate that the temples have been collectively referred to as the Pancharamas since at least the 12th century.[3]
