Penajam is a town and the administrative capital of Penajam North Paser Regency, in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. It was previously known as Balikpapan Seberang (lit. "opposite of Balikpapan") before 13 October 1987, when it was transferred from the namesake city to Pasir Regency by government regulation number 21.[1]
