Phillip Nicholas Angelides[1] (/ˌændʒəˈliːdɪs/ AN-jə-LEE-dis; born June 12, 1953) is an American politician who served as the California State Treasurer from 1999 to 2007. A member of the Democratic Party, Angelides was the party's nominee for Governor of California in 2006. Angelides later served as the chair of the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, which was charged with investigating the causes of the 2007–2008 financial crisis and presenting a report on their findings to the United States Congress.[2]
