Pichayevsky District (Russian: Пича́евский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[4] district (raion), one of the twenty-three in Tambov Oblast, Russia. It is located in the northeast of the oblast. The district borders with Morshansky District in the north, Zemetchinsky District of Penza Oblast in the east, Bondarsky District in the south, and with Sosnovsky District in the west. The area of the district is 1,294 square kilometers (500 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Pichayevo.[1] Population: 14,027 (2010 Census);[3] 16,542 (2002 Census);[6] 19,407 (1989 Soviet census).[7] The population of Pichayevo accounts for 24.3% of the district's total population.[3]
