Polycrates (/pəˈlɪkrəˌtz/; ‹See Tfd›Greek: Πολυκράτης), son of Aeaces, was the tyrant of Samos from the 540s BC to 522 BC. He had a reputation as both a fierce warrior and an enlightened tyrant.
