Porphyrius the Charioteer

Porphyrius (Greek: Πορφύριος) the Charioteer, also named Porphyrius Calliopas (AD 480 – after 538) was a celebrity Byzantine-Roman charioteer in the late 5th and early 6th century AD, during what the classicist Alan Cameron has described as the "golden age" of Byzantium's hippodrome, and of the Byzantine charioteer.
