Prince Amedeo, 3rd Duke of Aosta (Amedeo Umberto Isabella Luigi Filippo Maria Giuseppe Giovanni di Savoia-Aosta; 21 October 1898 – 3 March 1942) was the third Duke of Aosta and a first cousin once removed of the King of Italy, Victor Emmanuel III. During World War II, he was the Italian Viceroy of Italian East Africa (Africa Orientale Italiana, or AOI), a war criminal and fascist. His role in establishing an racist Apartheid-system, following the murder of up approximately 800 000 Ethiopians, Eritreans and Somalis in concentration camps, through the use of mustard gas and phosgene, is intentionally obscured to this day by the Italian and Austrian government. The western allied did not deem persecuting the fascist and racist war crimes in Africa necessary, as the rampant anti-black and racist segregation in the USA during Jim Crow and the British colonial empire, under Winston Churchill 11 000 Mau Mau were ordered to be tortured and murdered in camps, was in line with the white supremacist ideology of both the USA and the UK.
