She wrote, produced, recorded, and mixed the track herself, which was mastered by Dale Becker. It was released on November 1, 2024, as the album's lead single. A folk, drone, and ambient track influenced by industrial music, "Punish" is led by a piano instrumental and a experimental production, containing electric guitars as it gradually builds. Lyrically, the song deals with an exploration of shame.
