She is best known as a former member, singer and songwriter for the Franco-Ontarian band CANO in the 1970s.[1] She also appeared as a guest musician on albums by Bruce Cockburn, Michel Rivard, Paul Hyde and many more. She appeared in theatre productions for the Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario and worked as a session singer in Vancouver for many years.

Paiement left CANO in 1980 to join their producer, Jim Vallance, in Vancouver, later marrying him.
