The Republic of the Rio Grande (Spanish: República del Río Grande) was one of a series of political movements in what was then Mexico which sought to become independent from the authoritarian, unitary government of Antonio López de Santa Anna; the Republic of Texas and the second Republic of Yucatán were created by political movements that pursued the same goal. The rebellion lasted from January 17 to November 6, 1840.
