Sabah, (Arabic: صباح, romanized: Ṣabāḥ, Lebanese Arabic pronunciation: [sˤɑˈbɑːħ], lit. 'morning') born Jeanette Georges Feghali, (Arabic: جانيت جرجس فغالي, romanized: Jānīt Jirjis Fighālī, Lebanese Arabic pronunciation: [ʒaːˈneːt ˈʒeːrʒes feˈɣaːli]) was a Lebanese vocalist and actress. She specialised in Mawwāl, a popular genre of traditional music in the Arabsphere, and performed in many Egyptian films and songs.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
She was known as 'Al-Shahrurah' (Arabic: الشحرورة, romanized: Al-Shaḥrūrah, Lebanese Arabic pronunciation: [ʔeʃ.ʃaħˈruː.ra], lit. 'the songbird'), or 'Shahrurit al-Wadi' (Arabic: شحرورة الوادي, romanized: Shaḥrūrit al-Wadī, Lebanese Arabic pronunciation: [ʃaħˈruː.rɪt l.wæː.di], lit. 'songbird of the valley') both in reference to her origins and her strong and rhythmic voice.[9][10][11][12]
