Salmonid herpesvirus 2 (SalHV-2) is a species of virus in the genus Salmonivirus, family Alloherpesviridae, and order Herpesvirales.[1]

The virus has been referred to as Oncorhynchus masou virus (OMV) after the disease caused by the virus was first referred to as Oncorhynchus masou virus disease (OMVD) in 1981.[2]
