Savelugu is one of the constituencies represented in the Parliament of Ghana. It elects one member of parliament (MP) by the first-past-the-post system of election. Savelugu is located in the Northern Region of Ghana. Hajia Mary Salifu Boforo served the constituency as a member of parliament in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana. She was elected on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and won a majority of 6,434 votes more than candidate closest in the race to win the constituency election, becoming the MP.[1] She had earlier represented the constituency in the 4th Republican parliament.

The constituency was initially known as Savelugu- Nanton municipal district until it was elevated to Savelugu municipality prior to the 2012 Ghanaian general election.[2]
