Shablykinsky District (Russian: Шаблыкинский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[4] district (raion), one of the twenty-four in Oryol Oblast, Russia. It is located in the west of the oblast. The area of the district is 847.5 square kilometers (327.2 sq mi).[citation needed] Its administrative center is the urban locality (an urban-type settlement) of Shablykino.[1] Population: 8,045 (2010 Census);[2] 9,588 (2002 Census);[6] 10,644 (1989 Soviet census).[7] The population of Shablykino accounts for 42.4% of the district's total population.[2]
