The Shanghai Grand Theatre (Chinese: 上海大剧院; pinyin: Shànghǎi dà jùyuàn) is a complex located at the intersection of Renmin Avenue and Huangpi North Road in the northern part of the People's Square in the Huangpu District of Shanghai. The building houses the Shanghai Opera House and other performing companies.[1]

The theatre was designed by French architect Jean-Marie Charpentier along with the Institute of Architectural Design of Eastern China.[2] Since its opening on August 27, 1998, it has staged performances of operas, musicals, ballets, symphonies, chamber music, and Chinese operas.[3]
