Shivsena Nepal (Nepali: शिवसेना नेपाल; translation: Shiva's Army of Nepal) is a political party in Nepal. It was founded in 1990 by Arun Subedi, in response to the growing demands for secularism following the Jana Andolan movement.[2]
Unlike the Nepal Shivsena, Shivsena Nepal mainly identifies as a religious organisation. While Nepal Shivsena has ties to the Indian Shiv Sena, Shivsena Nepal denies such affiliations.[3][4]
The party was registered with the Election Commission of Nepal ahead of the 2008 Constituent Assembly election.[5]
When the Taliban began destroying ancient Buddhist artefacts, both Nepal Shiv Sena and Shivsena Nepal strongly condemned the attacks.[6]
