The State Defense Committee (Russian: Государственный комитет обороны (ГКО), romanizedGosudarstvennyĭ komitet oborony (GKO)) was an extraordinary organ of state power in the Soviet Union during the German-Soviet War, also called the Great Patriotic War, with complete state power in the country.
