Sterculia africana[2] or African star-chestnut[citation needed] is a deciduous tree, belonging to the genus Sterculia and the family Malvaceae (previously the Sterculiaceae, now relegated to a subfamily).[3] The species is sometimes called the "mopopaja tree". It is distributed throughout Northeast Africa to Arabia.
