Tahmuras or Tahmures (Persian: تهمورث, طهمورث IPA: [tʰæmures]; from Avestan Taxma Urupi "Strong Fox" via Middle Persian: 𐮑𐮇𐮋𐮅𐮊𐮎𐮀‎, romanized: Tahmōref[citation needed]) was the third Shah of the mythical Pishdadian dynasty of Iran according to Ferdowsi's epic poem, the Shahnameh. He is considered the builder of Merv.
