In the history of Hungary, written at the time of King Matthias Corvinus, I was told that there is a reference to part of the Garay family moving to Spain and then exploring the New World. I am descended from the Garay family which lived in the area near Nitra but left about 1910 for the United States. I still have Garay relatives in that area. My grandfather told my mother that we were descended from the 'royal' Garais so I am not sure why the article says that the male line died out except possibly that Corvinus wanted to take their castle.
