I vividly remember reading in the book THE WORLD'S GREATEST SPIES that Beer was noticed by an American who had fought in South America and had been captured by the KGB. He was tortured by a man who wanted to extract a confession from him that he was a spy, but was stopped when the man's fellow prisoners backed him up. Years later, that same American saw the man who'd tortured him seated at a table quietly eating his lunch or dinner and wearing an Israeli Uniform!
