Talk:Siege of Sancerre

The reference is cited in the text -- Jean de Léry, "The Memorable History of the Siege of Sancerre" (1574) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.58.147.211 (talk) 17:39, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Again, the reference is cited in article text but I added a second reference to the bottom on page. Léry's eyewitness account of the siege is the primary reference. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.12.136.18 (talk) 22:23, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is an issue with the alleged early attempt to take the city as cited in the article by this: "Honorat de Bueil, Seigneur of Racan ordered a surprise attack on the city on November 9, 1572. The city was occupied by the forces of the Seigneur of Racan but the Huguenots, under Mayor Johnanneau and Captain Lafleur, were able to regain control of the fortress after an armed resistance lasting 17 hours." According to the separate article on Seigneur of Racan, this gentleman wasn't even alive at the time! Other sources, for example Lauro Martines (2013) cite a "Monsieur de Fontaines" who tried to enter the city in October. I have tried to scour both English and French sources to figure out the true story on this early attempt by the Catholics to gain access, but have come up short. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C6:D99:C400:3810:1ADF:855F:F91E (talk) 11:22, 23 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
