Talk:Teutobod

--R.D.H. (Ghost In The Machine) Thanks Wiglaf for adding the map. 13:45, 12 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You are welcome :). I took it from the German Wikipedia. However, they had placed the origin in Helgoland for some reason. Since both Pliny the Elder and Pomponius Mela placed them in Jutland and southern Scandinavia, I made that small change. Otherwise, I don't know how correct the map is.--Wiglaf 14:03, 12 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
This is the supposed homeland of the Cimbri but there is nothing on the Teutones' and Ambrones' original homeland. Paul S (talk) 15:58, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

(Moved from Article text) Does anybody know what the "-bod" in Teutobod means? It is the same root in "Marobod".

Not if you want a Germanic root, but Celtic *boudi- "victory" and *bodua- "crow" are both possibilities. Paul S (talk) 16:32, 30 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
