The text in the etymology section seems completely made up. Chaery or Seri is a common suffix in the names of Tamil villages and towns, especially for ones near the sea coast (Neythal nilam). This "vedashreni" story, while within the realm of possibility, seems improbable. Please substantiate any text that is inserted under the etymology section. If no story can be substantiated, then plainly admit that. There is no shame in honestly admitting ignorance. Etymology: Velar is a term for farmer communities that also took part in military campaigns in Chola times. Velir is a term for farmer tribes referred to from Sangam times. Will add epigraphical support soon. Either of these term appear more probable than the term Vel (King). Madhusam (talk) 17:37, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
