The
Black-headed Gull (
Larus ridibundus) is a small
gull which breeds in much of
Europe and
Asia, and also in coastal eastern
Canada. Despite the name, the gull's head is only black during the summer. In winter the head becomes white as seen here, leaving just dark vertical streaks.
