brise soleil on
Santiago Calatrava's Quadracci Pavilion of the
Milwaukee Art Museum in the open position.
French for "sun break", a brise soleil serves to provide
shade from the sun. Calatrava's brise soleil opens up for a wingspan of 217 feet (66.1 m) during the day, folding over the tall, arched structure at night or during inclement weather.
