The
Pindi moth (
Abantiades latipennis) is
endemic to
Australia, where the
larvae primarily feed on the roots of
Eucalyptus trees. Female moths "lay" their eggs by scattering up to 10,000 of them during flight. Larvae then hatch in the
leaf litter on the forest floor and begin tunnelling in search of suitable host roots.
