The
red-and-green macaw (
Ara chloropterus) is a species of
macaw, the largest in the genus
Ara. Also known as the green-winged macaw, it is widespread in the forests and woodlands of northern and central South America. This juvenile was photographed perching on a tree near the banks of the
Rio Negro in the
Pantanal, in southwestern Brazil.
