The Totoaba, Totuava, or the Giant of the Gulf (Totoaba macdonaldi) is a species of marine fish and the largest member of the drum family Sciaenidae that is endemic to the Gulf of California in Mexico.[4] It is the only species in the genus Totoaba. Originally the Totoaba was an abundant species, now it is considered endangered due to human related threats that contributed to its population decline.
