Truth in Accounting (TIA), formerly known as the Institute for Truth in Accounting, is a nonpartisan American think tank that promotes fiscal transparency and accountability through improving the accounting standards the government uses which are different than the standards they require of corporations.[2][3] Its stated goal is "to educate and empower citizens with understandable, reliable, and transparent government financial information."[4]
