Tyomkinsky District (Russian: Тёмкинский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[3] district (raion), one of the twenty-five in Smolensk Oblast, Russia. It is located in the northeast of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,324.22 square kilometers (511.28 sq mi).[1] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Tyomkino.[1] Population: 6,348 (2010 Census);[2] 6,916 (2002 Census);[5] 8,160 (1989 Soviet census).[6] The population of the administrative center accounts for 38.0% of the district's total population.[2]
