The Uraeus ()[1] or Ouraeus (Ancient Greek: Οὐραῖος, Greek pronunciation: [οὐραῖος] ⓘ; Egyptian: jꜥrt, "rearing cobra", plural: Uraei) is the stylized, upright form of an Egyptian cobra, used as a symbol of sovereignty, royalty, deity and divine authority in ancient Egypt.
