Lapbook is

A lapbook is a foldable booklet created by a student, generally as a supplement to a curriculum. A lapbook is a proven method of enhancing, creating, and displaying a summary of what a student has learned or accomplished during a particular unit of study. [1]

A lapbook usually consists of a base (a few file folders, folded in a special way and then glued together) and lots of paper booklets. The booklets may include maps, vocabulary, diagrams, illustrations, creative writing, coloring or drawing, timelines, facts, questions & answers, and so much more.

Lapbooks can be used with any subject, including Science, Literature, Math, History, Geography, Bible, Government, Economics, Grammar, Spelling, Penmanship, and Unit Studies.

Students retain information very well when using lapbooks because several of the student’s senses are being used during the creation of this project.
