Alexander Pasik, PhD (born 1961) is best known for coining the term Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA)[1], is the Chief Information Officer of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), the largest professional organization in the world dedicated to the advancement of electrical engineering, computing and technology.

Dr. Pasik is a well-known authority on computing and the influence of technology on modern life. In particular, Pasik is an expert on Cloud Computing[2], the impact of the internet on the economy[3], and a variety of other topics in computing.

Dr. Pasik is currently Adjunct Professor of Computer Science at Columbia University in the City of New York and previously taught at both The Dalton School and New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT).
