A long, lonely beach with waves washing gently against the sand. Slowly a grotesque shape appears from the waters. Painfully it drags itself up the shore to the viewer, where, tattered and battered, it reveals itself as a human being. With its last breath it raises itself up and groans:
Hello! My name is Dogbertd (so named because Dogbert Dilbert, the megalomaniac dog, was already taken). Born in 1958, I'm British (a Scot to be exact) and I'm a biochemist working in the area of anti-cancer drug discovery and development. Curiously, not many of my Wikipedia entries are about this. Rather I contribute to matters musical, particularly the works of Richard Wagner and also (for contrast) some rock bands that I first encountered in the 1970s. Doubtless I'll add to other areas of interest, but at the moment I'm working on expanding the articles discussing the influence of Schopenhauer on Wagner's late operas.
